Forward thinking brand communication meets high-end design with a Scandinavian touch.

Developing a brand that creates brands
The NORDERN Origin

The term “Nordern” (Nordic + Modern) is a concept formed out of our affection for modern contemporary design aesthetic, mostly found in Scandinavian design.

Scandinavian design is characterised by simplicity, minimalism and functionality. Emerging in the 1950s in the five Nordic countries of Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland and Iceland, Scandinavian design aesthetics became known for its simple yet sophisticated style.

The Nordern Design bureau was formed around this core concept which also represents the essence and spirit of our work ethics. It boils down to minimalism and keeping natural beauty within the functionality of design. Just like our respect to nature, there are no unnecessary gimmicks, everything is functional, has a purpose.

While our roots are as diverse as our clients,
we speak one global language: the language of design.

For the creation of the NORDERN brand, we treated the process as we would developing a client project. Everything begins with a concept, an idea that is the focal point of everything from naming, to colours, typography, use of space and more. In our case, the word Nordern (Nordic + Modern) is a concept formed out of our affection for modern contemporary design aesthetic, often found in Scandinavian design. As a result, we used clean modern typefaces and a reduced colour palette to reflect the minimalistic design movement which inspired our bureau. The logo is reduced to only type characters and colour palette allows us to create the backdrop of our visuals without taking away from our actual product, client projects. Watch this space as we develop and grow the Nordern brand.
